As a black, queer birth worker, I strive to be your most trusted resource and support regarding all things gestation, birth, postpartum, and beyond. I am absolutely committed to improving maternal health and specifically to reduce the health disparities of black women/persons with poor outcomes.

Every client is important to me. It is my responsibility to provide unbiased education, research-based information, and personalized nurturing support in preparation for your birth and new arrival. I lead with compassion. My approach is rooted in consent and respect regardless of sexual orientation, gender expression/identity, and marital status.

When I was 11, I had the opportunity to watch my niece transition to earthside. It was an amazing moment and showed me what birth could be when a person feels safe, informed, and supported.

From that very moment I knew that I was called to this work; to encourage, cheer, and reassure a birther (and partner) during the most vulnerable moment in their lives. When that new life enters the world, there is a divine peacefulness that is rooted in triumph and joy. It is absolutely spectacular.

    Ok, so..I need to take a moment and recognize the AMAZING experience I had with my doula Tren. Having a baby at 40 during Covid was STRESSFUL. Tren was there every step of the way. Only one person is allowed in the delivery room with you because of Covid, but Tren found a way to get in there so that she could assist with my birth. There were moments when I lost it and cried like a baby and moments of uncontrollable laughter. I labored from sun down to sun up and literally howled at the moon like a wolf because of the pain. Lol She was there for me. I’m grateful beyond words. Thank you sis!

She helped me so much during my pregnancy with making sure I asked the right questions to my doctor and ensuring I was being listened to and not settling for the mediocre treatment doctors may try to give me. My boyfriend and I felt very comfortable with her and we went into labor confident knowing that we had much more knowledge about our rights and options.     First, let me say that Tren is a fantastic doula. You need her, trust me. Now let me tell you why. With the devastating statistics around black maternal health in my mind I knew I needed someone to help me and my husband through the pregnancy and birthing process; someone who was knowledgeable and a strong advocate. A person who could help shore up my faith and confidence in my body to do the miraculous thing of growing a human. After vetting and interviewing several doulas, that person was Tren. Tren supported me through my entire pregnancy and after, she was always available, even though she had quite a lot happening in her personal life. She helped us prepare a birth plan (spiral bound in color, because she’s amazing) that encompassed my wishes in any birth scenario, which I didn’t know how much I would need until nothing went according to my plans. I was more than a week overdue and scheduled to be induced when my water broke the night before the induction . After 36 hours in labor I was scheduled for a c-section and while this wasn’t my ideal birth scenario I was prepared and knew what to expect thanks to Tren. Tren even visited us in the hospital the same night our daughter was born even though that wasn’t a part of our agreement. I also used her placenta encapsulation service and she delivered the pills within a couple of days, I know others who have waited weeks for their pills. Tren also gave me my dehydrated umbilical chord as a keepsake. Every question I had was answered (and I had a lot), and she even encouraged me to reach out to her more. Honestly, she was the best!
